Rooted Fare x Gu Grocery Tang Yuan Workshop
This Saturday, we hold our 3rd annual tang yuan making class with our friends Hedy and Ashley of Rooted Fare! Impress your aunties, uncles, and friends this Lunar New Year by learning how to make these 1,000+ year old iconic desserts with any filling — we’ll make ones made with black sesame and pineapple cake fillings!
Oooga Booga invites Orange Radio and Gu Grocery
Gu was invited to pop-up at the ICA on Saturday, March 9, alongside independent online radio Orange Radio. Come hear tunes, eat Gu snacks, shop our Gu’oods, and hang out with us at this free event!
The event is part of Bookshelf Residency: Ooga Booga, hosted by the Institute of Contemporary Art, where they have organized a series of public programs inviting friends of the shop to present activities on site.

Clockshop's Community & Unity People's Kite Festival
Join Clockshop for our 3rd Annual Community & Unity People’s Kite Festival on May 13, 2023, at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, next to Chinatown. This family-friendly cultural festival brings together diverse communities in Los Angeles through the art of kites and a day of joyful connection in this important public green space.
This all-ages celebration is free and open to the public. Come and spend the day flying kites, learning new flying techniques from Kite Masters, enjoy a “gallery in the sky,” participate in art-making workshops that explore the natural environment, and meet local community organizations.

Four women bakers who met in Chinatown, are offering flakey pastries as the collective ‘Flakey Friends’ on Saturday March 11th starting at 10am to 3pm in Far East Plaza as part of the RE:Her Festival.

Chinese American Museum’s Spring Fest
The Chinese American Museum and El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument is excited to present their annual New Year Festival! This year, CAM welcomes spring with Spring Fest 2023 (formerly known as Lantern Festival) on Saturday, March 4th from Noon to 5pm!

Mandarin Plaza Holiday Market
Join us for a market in Chinatown’s Mandarin Plaza. Shop ~40 vendors curated by the Steep LA team! We will be joining other participating businesses in donating 10% of Gu proceeds to Chinatown Service Center.
Gu has received small business counseling from advisors at the center who have helped us apply for funding and improve our business plan. We are so glad we can give back in a small way!
